Ferris Named Captain; Rash, Ehirim Named First Team All-State

The West Virginia Class A All-State Team was announced on Tuesday. The team, which was voted on by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, honored several of our local athletes.

Tug Valley's Braydun Ferris was the captain of the first team for the second consecutive season. Ferris, a senior, led the Panthers to their third straight state title and turned it on when it mattered most by setting a state tournament record with 86 points over the three games. Ferris is a three time first team selection. He is a member of a senior class that won more games than any in Tug Valley history with 91.

Ferris is joined on the first team by fellow Panther teammate Zade Rash. The junior had a major impact this season at Tug Valley hitting big bucket after big bucket. Rash hit two of the biggest shots of the season with corner three-pointers against Tucker County in the Class A semifinals and then against Greater Beckley Christian in the Class A championship.

Huntinton St Joe's Micaiah Ehirim also found a spot on the first team. The junior led the Irish to a 15-9 record against a difficult schedule and helped them secure a state tournament berth. Ehirim helped the Irish to a late season win over Tug Valley by scoring 18 points and helping St Joe pick up the third seed in the state tournament.

Several of our athletes also were named to the honorable mention list. Tug Valley's Carson Newsome, St Joe's Grady Paynter as well as Man's Grayson Sanders and Connor Booth all earned spots as an honorable mention selection.

Congratulations to all who were named to the team from all of us at D&D Sports Network.
