Floyd Central Squeaks Past Letcher Central In 2A Section 8 Tournament
The Floyd Central Jaguars advanced in the 2A Section 8 Tournament with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Letcher County Central on Wednesday in Prestonsburg.
Landon Prater and Logan Meade were named Double Kwik Co-Players of the Game for their efforts.
Prater got the win on the mound after allowing only 1 run on 3 hits with 8 strikeouts over 6.2 innings pitched to get the win. Meade had a single with 1 RBI, but the catcher's biggest contribution came from his arm as he gunned down 4 base runners who were attempting to steal bases and helping preserve the win.
Also for the Jaguars, Mason Anderson had 2 hits, including a double and 1 run scored. Logan Slone had 2 singles. Brance Pennington recorded a single and 1 RBI.
Greyson Akers struck out the last batter of the game to get the save.
