Lambert & Heck Land First Team Selections on Class AA All-State Team
The West Virginia Class AA All-State Team was announced on Wednesday. The team, which was voted on by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, honored several of our local athletes.
Logan's Lucas Lambert and Wayne's Colton Heck earned first team selections.
Lambert followed up a fabulous freshman campaign with a fantastic sophomore campaign as he helped lead the Wildcats the Class AA state tournament. Lambert's lay up off a steal in the regional co-final at Charleston Catholic was a highlight that traveled all across the state.
Heck, a senior, was the leading scorer for a Pioneer team that qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history. Heck helped to lead Wayne to a semifinal appearance and earned Class AA all-tournament team honors to help cap off a historic season for the Pioneers.
There were also several second team selections from our area.
Wayne's Landon Preece found himself on the second team after a sensational sophomore season. Logan senior Ivan Miller capped off his high school basketball career by landing a spot on the second team. Westside's Bradyn Waldron had a break through season for the Renegades to put himself on the second team.
The honorable mention selections are Mingo Central's Devin Maynard, Westside's Cooper Hatfield, Logan's Bentley Williamson as well as Scott's Jace Watts and Colin Williamson.
