Late Homers Give Lady Panthers Win At Johnson Central
The Tug Valley Lady Panthers built and early lead and then had to rally in the 7th inning to get a 7-6 win at Johnson Central on Tuesday.
Tug Valley (15-3) got the scoring going early in the top of the first inning when Emma Lackey singled home Bailee Hall for a 1-0 lead. Paisley Bolyard then scored on a wild pitch, and Lackey came home on an error to make it a 3-0 advantage.
The Lady Panthers increased their lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Paisley Bolyard drove in Zoey Hensley on a sacrifice fly. Katie Hall then drove home Bailee Hall on a double to left field to make the lead 5-0.
Johnson Central (7-12) exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. First, Keylee Blair hit a line drive homer to left field for the Lady Eagles' first run of the game. Julie Dials then singled home Lizzie Williams to make it a 5-2 game. Leah Hall then stepped up to the plate and hammered a pitch to center field for a 2-run homer. Shelby Arnett then crossed home to tie the game up on a triple from Mia Estep.
Tug Valley responded in a big way in the top of the 7th when Bailee Hall crushed her 9th homer of the season to center field. The Lady Panthers weren't done as Katie Hall stepped up later in the inning and blasted her 4th homer of the season to give Tug Valley a 7-5 lead.
Johnson Central was able to close the gap in the bottom of the 7th when Molly Music scored on a Bella Bowen single, but that was the last run they would get and Tug Valley was able to walk away with the dramatic win.
Lackey was credited with the win for Tug Valley as she allowed 4 runs on 7 hits and had 9 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Bailee Hall got the save in relief, allowing only 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 2 batters in 1.2 innings.
At the plate, Lackey had 3 hits and 1 RBI. Katie Hall hit a double, a homer and had 2 RBIs. Bailee Hall had a double, a home run and 1 RBI. Caylee Steele and Zoey Hensley each had a hit.
For Johnson Central, Keylee Blair had a double, a homer and 1 RBI. Bella Bowen had 2 hits with a triple and 1 RBI. Leah Hall had a home run and 2 RBIs. Mia Estep had a triple and 1 RBI. Molly Music added a double. Julie Dials had a hit and 1 RBI. Josie Dials and Shelby Arnett each finished with a hit.
