Terry Named Captain, Riggs Lands Spot On Class AAA All-State First Team
The West Virginia Class AAA All-State Team was announced on Thursday. The team, which was voted on by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association, honored several of our local athletes.
Chapmanville sophomore Keaton Terry was named captain of the first team. Terry, who missed the first half of the regular season with a broken hand, averaged 15 points and 14 rebounds per game and was a monster in the state tournament and helped lead the Tigers to the fourth state title in school history. In the Class AAA title game, Terry had 23 points and 19 rebounds against North Marion
Spring Valley senior Harrison Riggs also earned a first team spot after averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds. Riggs has been a vital part of the Timberwolves team and helped them to an 11-11 record this season.
On the second team, Chapmanville senior Benji Adkins ended his high school basketball career with a state title and an all-state selection. Adkins averaged 12 points per game and helped to hold down the post early in the season while Terry was recovering from his injury.
Chapmanville also had several honorable mention selections. Jay Brock, Dakota Dalton and Eli Smith all earned honorable mention spots on the team.
