Maynard Lifts Miners To Win Over Logan
Devin Maynard hit two free throws with no time remaining to give the Mingo Central Miners a 54-53 win over the Logan Wildcats on Thursday at Mingo Central High School.
The Miners were trailing by a point as the clock ticked down, Maynard released a three-pointer as time expired and drew a foul. He stepped to the line with no one around him and hit the first two free throws, ending the game.
Maynard was named the Tug Valley Wellness Center Player of the Game with 27 points. Aidan Burke added 9 points. Auckley Mangabu had 6 points.
For Logan, Zo Murphy fired in 17 points. Lucas Lambert had 15 points. Ivan Miller netted 9 points.
Mingo Central (10-11) will travel to Summers County for the Class AA Region III opening round playoff game. Logan (9-12) still has one regular season game at Wyoming East on Saturday.
