Tug Valley's Workman Going To Girls State Wrestling Tournament
Tug Valley sophomore Alissa Workman is making history. The sophomore secured her spot to compete in 2026 Girls State Wrestling Tournament after a strong showing in Parkersburg on Sunday.
Workman, who is in her first year as a wrestler, became the first girl in Tug Valley and Mingo County history to win a wrestling match in January. She has continued to grow throughout the season and is now the first wrestler, boy or girl, to earn a state tournament spot in Tug Valley history. She has a 7-14 record overall, including a 5-8 record against girls in the 100 lbs weight division.
She'll compete for a state title on March 7th in Huntington.
Congratulations to Alissa Workman and good luck from all of us at D&D Sports Network!
